The Mountain Goat Trail is a Rails to Trails project located in Franklin, Marion and Grundy Counties of Tennessee. The Mountain Goat Trail Alliance is working to revitalize the historic Mountain Goat train line as a premier hiking and biking trail.

The Trail is proposed to be 40 miles of multi-use trail, following the abandoned rail bed of the old Mountain Goat rail line that connected Cowan, TN with what would become Sewanee, TN, home to the University of the South. The line passes through nine jurisdictions containing five municipalities.

Farmer | Morgan serves as the prime architectural and engineering firm for the Mountain Goat Trail with approximately 14 miles of trail design under contract. the 2.9 mile hard surface trail from St. Andrews - Sewanee School to the City of Monteagle was completed in 2015.
